Science Classroom Decor and Organization

As teachers, we all know the importance of creating a classroom environment that is welcoming and conducive to learning. Creating a science corner is a great way to add to your classroom decor. It will also help you keep your science materials organized and easy to access.

  1. Scientist Posters

Scientist posters not only look great, but they are excellent reminders for your students. They remind students that we are all scientists and that scientists can do many different things.

  1. Label Your Materials

Use labels to mark your science materials for easy use and cleanup. I like to have bins of magnifying glasses, microscopes, safety goggles, lab coats, clipboards, rocks, magnets, leaves, measuring cups, sticks, and much more available for use during lessons and free exploration. I also like to change out the bins when we introduce a new science topic.

  1. Anchor Charts

I love to use anchor charts during science lessons. Having visual reminders posted around the room is a great way for students to have easy access to the information they have learned. I like to post anchor charts that we create as a class as well as simple charts with basic vocabulary and picture examples. Anchor charts are a functional and fun way to add to your science classroom decor.

  1. Display Student Work

You can also dedicate a section of your science corner or area to displaying student work. I love to display work that shows student discovery and scientific thinking.

  1. Science Book Bin

Create a themed book bin that contains books that go along with your current science unit. This is a great place to keep books you read aloud or books students can grab from during independent reading time.
